In an exciting addition to our events this year we welcome Schola Cantorum of Bristol University under their Director, Dr Emma Hornby. They will be entertaining us with a varied programme of sacred medieval song written for English nunneries and secular song celebrating Spring and Summer. The glorious medieval barn will provide a perfect setting for this programme.
Refreshments appropriate to the period will be available during the interval.
Although this is Summer, the barn can still be quite cool
inside, so warm clothing is advised.

Armed Forces Day, which replaces Veterans Day, aims to honour the contribution made by current members of the armed forces and by veterans of all ages.
It provides an opportunity for us all to join together to pay tribute to the armed forces, past, present and future.
After the huge successes of previous years, South Gloucestershire Council are organising a parade and activities at Kingswood Park, 10.30am-4pm.
The veterans' parade with marching band and military vehicles assembles at 11am at Kimberley Road, Kingswood, and concludes in Kingswood Park.
In the park there will be stalls, demonstrations and activities for all the family, and a drum head ceremony at 12.15pm with Rev Peter Hussey officiating.

Drawing visitors from around the world, the Engage festival is a multicultural event that showcases the vibrant cultures of the people that live and work in South Gloucestershire.
Engage is a dynamic and colourful celebration of world music, dance, drama, food and workshops. The Engage festival helps us to appreciate the richness of our communities through the many talented musicians, singers and dancers who participate.
As part of the celebrations, more than 250 performers will come together for a variety of exciting live performances, youth and environmental activities, interactive stalls, and an impressive feast of Indian, Mediterranean, Chinese and British food.
Bristol Harbour Festival takes over the city's harbour area with a programme of circus, dance, music and theatre.

Come and sing and listen to a mix of festive music, with the Ammonites and singers from Bristol opera. Entry is free, but by pre-bookable ticket only. Mulled wine, apple juice, mince pies on sale, so wrap up warm, and be prepared for a warm welcome.

The Guards train Thursdays and occasional Saturdays, at Charborough Road primary school in Filton.
A marching band is being created, with wind section of brass and woodwind instruments, and a percussion section with drums, xylophones etc.
